Do You Know - Thailand's Koh Tao among world’s prettiest islands

Koh Tao, Surat Thai Province, in Southern Thailand has been voted among the World’s Prettiest Islands by Traveller’s Choice Awards. “Drifting serenely in the Gulf of Thailand, the palm-fringed island of Ko Tao takes its name from the abundant sea turtles that reside on its shores. White sand beaches sheltered by steep hills, some only accessible with four-wheel drive vehicles, and 300 days of sun per year invite long afternoons of lounging.” The website has recommended a visit to Sai Nuan Beach, a diver’s day course and The Gallery Restaurant, which serves authentic Thai cuisine and offers extensive vegetarian fare, as must-dos in the destination, a release states.

The travel site suggests scuba-diving and snorkeling as adventure activities to be certainly tried out at Koh Tao. “Those travelling with kids can make a beeline for the calm waters at Jansom Bay – it is privately owned and therefore an entrance fee is levied, which also ensures a level of filtering,” the site states.

Koh Tao is a breeding ground for Hawksbill Turtles and Green Turtles. Divers can get a view of the varied underwater population that consists of Lionfish, Porcupine Fish, Spotted Stingrays, Moray Eels, Giant Groupers, Christmas Tree Worms, Batfish and Clown Trigger Fish.

Koh Tao can be reached via Samui Airport or Chumphon Airport.
